James McAvoy has shut down heavily circulating rumours that he will be appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

McAvoy has been a fixture in the Doctor Strange franchise and clued up Marvel fans assumed he’d be back for the next instalment in the movie as his version of Charles Xavier.

The theory of McAvoy’s potential appearance kicked off after fans suspected a voice over in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer sounded like Patrick Stewart. However, Stewart quickly deflected the idea by claiming that people have been imitating his voice for years.

With Stewart ruled out, fans quickly suspected that McAvoy was appearing in the movie. However, McAvoy has taken to Twitter to shut down the rumours.

McAvoy didn’t mince his words, telling the camera, “Are you in Doctor Strange, No”.

While McAvoy has made it very clear that he won’t be appearing in the upcoming film, Patrick Stewart has all but confirmed that fans correctly recognised his voice in the trailer.

“I actually didn’t recognize my own voice … It sounded different … whether I had a cold or something, I don’t know”

“I was astonished … All they saw was the back of my shoulder and earlobe”

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds has also shut down rumours that he will be involved in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

“I’m really not in the movie,” Reynolds insisted. When prodded with the idea that he might be lying, he added, “I’m promising, I’m not in the movie,” the actor told Variety.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to release in theatres on May 6th, 2020.
