Marco Reus made his return to team training on Thursday to give Borussia Dortmund a big boost ahead of the business end of the season.

The Borussia Dortmund players not sidelined with injuries or away on international duty returned to the training pitch on Thursday. Among the six outfield players in training was Marco Reus, who made his return after missing Dortmund’s last four games.

Reus missed the game against FC Augsburg with a knock, before an infection forced him to miss the last three games. But now it looks like the BVB captain has fully recovered. And he could make his return to the squad for next weekend’s crunch home game against RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

Reus’ absence has been heavily felt in the Borussia Dortmund attack in each of the last four games. The usually free-scoring Black and Yellows have managed just four goals in their last four matches, dropping points in two of them. So his comeback will certainly bolster the BVB attack as they look to finish the season on a high.

Axel Witsel, Emre Can, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Marius Wolf and Reinier were the other first-team players who took part in Thursday’s training session. Ruhr Nachrichten report that Mats Hummels and Mahmoud Dahoud both trained individually.

Borussia Dortmund currently have a number of players sidelined with injuries. Nico Schulz and Felix Passlack both got injured at the weekend, while Thomas Meunier and Steffen Tigges are out with long-term injuries. Eleven Borussia Dortmund players are currently away on international duty.
