Samuel Baker, Maria Goodbird-Perez charged with child endangerment, reckless endangerment
Samuel Raven Baker, 19, New Town, is charged in district court in Mountrail County with Class C felony child endangerment, Class C felony theft, Class A misdemeanor fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, Class A misdemeanor reckless endangerment, Class A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine, and Class A misdemeanor providing false information to law enforcement on Tuesday.
He made an initial appearance on Tuesday before Judge Stacy Louser, who scheduled a preliminary hearing for April 28.
A passenger in the vehicle, Maria Perez-Goodbird, 22, of Mandaree, is charged with Class C felony child endangerment, Class A misdemeanor reckless endangerment, Class A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine, and Class A misdemeanor possession of fentanyl.
Perez-Goodbird made an initial appearance on the charges against her on Wednesday before Judge Gary Lee on Wednesday, who scheduled a preliminary hearing for April 28.
According to a police affidavit, the pair were arrested following a traffic stop that led to a chase in Mountrail County. Drugs were allegedly found in the vehicle. A child was also present, according to the affidavit, and was taken into protective custody by Social Services.
