Skidmore Spotlight: Ben Steele
Evening Media Services Technician Ben Steele is responsible for maintaining media, podiums, and projectors in classrooms and provides technical assistance for large evening events, meetings, and recordings. He also trains student media technicians.
Before joining Skidmore during the fall semester, Steele worked in entertainment and production as a sound engineer/stage tech in union, private, and academic settings in New York and southern New England. One of his favorite gigs was as stage electrician with Champions of Magic, “an amazing show” featuring five illusionists, and toured with them in the Southeast.
“I enjoy Skidmore for the work atmosphere,” he said. “I am proud to be part of an outstanding department with first-rate technology on a beautiful campus.”
Outside work, Steele enjoys foraging for mushrooms, attending comic-cons, raising rabbits, and brewing beer.
