On March 22, the 12th and 31st Judicial Districts Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the Sequatchie County Sheriff's Office, and the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office conducted a joint search warrant operation which was meant to arrest people who had active warrants in Marion, Sequatchie, and Van Buren Counties. During the joint operation, law enforcement executed multiple search and arrest warrants with a total of 18 people taken into custody.
During the arrests, law enforcement also located heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and firearms from some of the people arrested.
Assisting in the arrests were the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations Drug Investigation Division, the South Pittsburg Police Department, the Powells Crossroads Police Department, the Dunlap Police Department the Monteagle Police Department, and the Tennessee Officer of Inspector General.
Marion County Sheriff's Ronnie "Bo" Burnett said, "It is important to have these coordinated round-ups which are led by the board member agencies of the drug task force. The primary purpose of the DTF is to provide this type of multi-agency coordination because crimes do not stop at county lines or city limits and this along with other joint investigations proves that coordinated efforts pay off.
Sequatchie County Sheriff Coy Swanger said, "We are pleased with all the participants from the various agencies of today’s operation. We look forward to joining in other operations to come back to crime. I know I speak for the other board members from the represented agencies that we are lucky to have such resources available for assistance.
Dunlap Police Chief Randy Phillips said, "I am pleased that all of the agencies can work together to make a difference in our communities."
Powells Crossroads Police Chief Kenneth Seagraves says, "I appreciate the DTF for allowing our agency to assist in this operation."
