The Seattle Mariners' acquisition of former Cincinnati Reds continued Tuesday as they announced Tuesday afternoon that they signed relief pitcher Sal Romano to a minor-league deal with an invitation to Major League Spring Training.

Romano, designated for assignment by the Reds last season after he pitched in 83 games over five big-league seasons in Cincinnati, pitched in one game for the Milwaukee Brewers and four games for the New York Yankees in 2021. The Yankees released him last August.

The Mariners announced Monday that they signed former Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton to a minor-league contract with an invitation to Major League Spring Training.

Last week, the Mariners acquired outfielder Jesse Winker and third baseman Eugenio Suárez from the Reds for right-handed starting pitcher Justin Dunn, outfielder Jake Fraley, left-handed pitching prospect Brandon Williamson and a player to be named later.

Winker, Suárez, Hamilton and Romano were teammates in Cincinnati for two seasons in 2017 and 2018.

Former Reds prospect Taylor Trammell is an outfielder on the Mariners' roster.

Romano, 28, posted a 5.23 ERA in 14 appearances for the Reds last season, and a 5.15 ERA for the team since his 2017 debut for Cincinnati. He was selected by the Reds in the 23rd round of the 2011 draft.
