Martha Smith Poynter, age 78, of Cave City, KY passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022 at her residence. The Barren County native was born on March 1, 1944 to the late Robert Leonard Smith and Ruby Lee Tapscott Smith. She was married to the late Billy Thomas Poynter, who also preceded her in death.
Martha retired from Dart Container Corporation with over thirty years of service in quality control. She was also a faithful member of Servant Valley United Baptist Church.
She leaves to honor her memory— her sons, Ricky Poynter (Debbie) of Horse Cave and Joe Poynter of Hardyville; seven grandchildren, Bradley Poynter (Ashley), Wesley Poynter (Ashley), Michael Stephens, Sherry Senn (Hunter), Thomas Poynter, Patrick Poynter (Beth) and Reanna Poynter; six great-grandchildren, Chandler, Kalley, Hadley, Addyson, Landon and Graham Poynter; brothers, Charles Smith (Dorothy) and Leonard Smith (Irene); sisters, Leattia Huff, Joyce Hester and Derenda Jones (Paul); daughters-in-law, Peggy Poynter and Debbie Poynter. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Bobby, John and Donnie Poynter; great-granddaughter, Lexie Makenna Poynter and brothers, Mikel and James Smith.
Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.
