Florida Southern grad Greg Pryor to discuss his pro baseball career from '70s and '80s

The Ledger
Kansas City Royals third baseman Greg Pryor, right, reels around in the arms of ace relief pitcher Dan Quisenberry after clinching the American League West crown in Oakland, California in 1984. Pryor, who won an NCAA Division II national championship with Florida Southern in 1971, will speak about his baseball career on Thursday at the school.

Former major leaguer Greg Pryor will discuss his baseball career in a lecture Thursday at Florida Southern College.

Pryor, who led Florida Southern to a national championship in 1971, played professional baseball for 16 years and was a member of the 1985 World Champion Kansas City Royals. He played with the likes of George Brett, Bo Jackson, Gaylord Perry, Reggie Jackson and Carlton Fisk.

Pryor is the author of “The Day the Yankees Made Me Shave,” which includes his recollections of playing in the famous Pine Tar Game in Yankee Stadium and the Disco Demolition game in Chicago’s Comiskey Park.

The lecture takes place at 6 p.m. in Annie Pfeiffer Chapel. It is free and open to the public.
