Sanford was traded to Winnipeg from Ottawa on Monday with a 2022 fifth-round selection headed the other way, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Sanford has notched 17 points in 62 games for the Senators this season along with 85 shots, 131 hits and 55 blocks. With the Jets moving Mason Appleton, the 27-year-old Sanford should be able to at least push for a top-six role, though he may need to settle for a spot on the third line at least to start.
