Free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick accepted a New Orleans Saints wide receiver's invitation to work out together Monday. Kaepernick accepted Jalen McCleskey's invitation to work out at Edna Karr High School in New Orleans. The workout comes as the New Orleans Saints quarterback position hangs in the balance. Last week the Saints fought hard to try to convince Deshaun Watson to come to New Orleans. Ultimately, Watson accepted a trade offer from the Browns. Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since 2016. He gained national attention for kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality. Kaepernick held an additional workout in 2019 that quickly soured when the NFL announced media would not be allowed at a pre-arranged workout set up by league officials. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell eventually apologized to Kaepernick for how the situation was handled by the NFL.
