Just how badly have the Portland Trail Blazers been playing lately?

Well, the Blazers were listed as a seven-point underdog for their game Monday night at the Detroit Pistons (19-52), owners of the third-worst winning percentage in the NBA (.268).

Of course, the Blazers were 7.5-point underdogs at Indiana on Sunday and the Pacers (25-47) own the sixth-worst winning percentage (.347). Plus, the Pacers covered that spread and then some, winning 129-98.

And now, Josh Hart is out with “left knee; patellar tendinopathy,” the same injury that has Anfernee Simons sidelined.

Portland entered a soft part of their schedule against Indiana where picking up a couple of wins might prove to be inevitable.

After playing at Detroit, the Blazers will return home to host San Antonio (28-44), play two games against Houston (17-54), then go up against Oklahoma City (20-51) and finally close with New Orleans (30-41).

But with Hart now out, the Blazers could be doomed to experience more lopsided defeats.

The Blazers hope that all of their losing leads to a high draft pick and the selection of an impact player. Detroit features such a player in rookie Cade Cunningham, who is having the best month of his young career. Cunningham, taken No. 1 overall in the 2021 NBA draft, is averaging 22.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game in March. He is also shooting 44.3% from the field and 34.9% on threes.
