HIGH POINT, N.C., March 21, 2022 – High Point University’s Department of Religion and Philosophy will host the Charles Franklin Finch Lecture Series featuring Joel Kaminsky, Morningstar professor of Jewish studies and professor of religion at Smith College.

The lecture series event will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28, in the Wilson Commerce Ballroom. This year’s event is titled, “Does God Play Favorites?: Exploring the Promise and Problems of Biblical Chosenness.” This event is free and open to the public.

“We are excited that we can bring Dr. Kaminsky to campus in the same year we are launching a new minor in Jewish Studies,” says Dr. Christopher Franks, chair of HPU’s Department of Religion and Philosophy. “Dr. Kaminsky’s wonderful work on the central biblical theme addresses a question that often puzzles students. It will be of interest to all who wish to understand the Bible better.”

The Charles Franklin Finch Lecture Series dates back to 1960 and is a yearly endowed lectureship. The purpose of the series is to foster dialogue and to deepen understanding regarding issues of importance to communities of faith.
