CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Get ready for a polka, pierogi and piwo-filled celebration. Dyngus Day Cleveland has returned, set to take place 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Monday, April 18 at Gordon Green, a venue located at 5400 Detroit Ave. in Cleveland’s Gordon Square neighborhood.

This year marks the 12th edition of Dyngus Day Cleveland. Tickets cost $30 and include two beer tickets. Children’s tickets are available for $5, and admission without drink tickets costs $25. Tickets are available at clevelanddyngus.com.

Some of the event’s proceeds will go toward Polish and Ukrainian relief, due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, according to a press release.

This year’s Dyngus Day Cleveland will feature polka dancing and music spun by DJ Kishka. Polish foods will be available for order, along with plenty of beer. Plus, Ms. Dyngus Day will be crowned at the fest.

The traditional Polish holiday lands the Monday following Easter, marking a celebration after the Lenten season. In the past, Dyngus Day has taken place outdoors in Gordon Square. Last year, the festival took place in a limited format, and in 2020 it was virtual, due to the pandemic.

Along with the in-person fun scheduled for this year, the event will be live-streamed on Facebook.

“Knowing that Dyngus Day is a true community celebration, we wanted to do everything we could to deliver the traditions, even if it looks a bit different this year,” said Adam Roggenburk, president of USA Expo, in a press release. “We are giving people and businesses a way to come together – even virtually – with the full intent to bring back Dyngus Days to the streets in 2023.”

The event is presented by The Ohio Lottery, according to a press release.

The festival fun won’t stop at Gordon Green. Local businesses will also participate in Dyngus Day, with specials and details shared on the Dyngus Day Cleveland website’s “Around Town” page and social media channels.

“This festival has become a sought-after, city-wide celebration,” said councilmember Jenny Spencer of Ward 15 in a press release. “There’s a lot of history in Cleveland and I’m especially proud that Dyngus Day Cleveland was born right here in Gordon Square. We’re thrilled the celebration is back in the neighborhood, and we look forward to its growth in years to come.”
