POULSBO — A woman died in a fire at a home off Falkner Road north of Poulsbo on Saturday afternoon, according to the Poulsbo Fire Department.

Firefighters — who arrived within three minutes from a station down the street — found the house, in the road's 28000 block, fully engulfed in flames at a little after 2:30 p.m. At first, crews believed up to four people were trapped inside, according to Poulsbo Battalion Chief Chris Rahl.

Crews from Poulsbo as well as firefighters from the Navy, North Kitsap, Bainbridge Island and Central Kitsap responded to the home, not far from Kitsap Memorial State Park. Once it was brought under control, firefighters found a woman inside, who did not survive.

The Kitsap County Coroner's Office will investigate the cause and manner of the woman's death.

Four other people were treated and released at the scene, Rahl said. No other injuries were reported.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office and the Kitsap County Fire Marshal's Office are also investigating the fire, Rahl said.
