Thompson scored a goal on five shots in Friday's 1-0 overtime win over the Flames.

After a low-event game through regulation, the Sabres had nearly all of the possession in overtime. Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom tried to clear a shallow dump-in himself but whiffed on the puck, allowing Thompson to take his time to put the puck in a vacant cage. The goal was Thompson's 25th of the season and his fifth point in eight outings in March. The 24-year-old is up to 45 points, 195 shots on net, a minus-14 rating and 51 hits through 58 contests as the Sabres' top-line center this season.
