Trinity Catholic High School to host ceremony for Olympic medalist Brittany Bowe

Trinity Catholic High School is preparing to welcome Olympic medalist Brittany Bowe back to its campus.

On Friday, March 25 at 10:15 a.m., Trinity Catholic High School is inviting the community to attend a ceremony in Bowe’s honor at the Marino Gymnasium located at 2600 SW 42nd Street in Ocala.

Bowe, a class of 2006 alumna, last visited her high school alma mater when she returned home from the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Bowe found success at this year’s Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. She was one of the favorites to win the women’s 1,000-meter speed skating event, and she edged out the 4th-place finisher by one-tenth of a second to earn the bronze medal.

Her generosity was also on full display when her friend and teammate, Erin Jackson, had a costly slip during the 500-meter qualifying event. It looked like Jackson was going to miss the Olympic Winter Games until Bowe relinquished her roster spot to Jackson.

Jackson made the most of the opportunity and won the gold medal in the women’s 500-meter speed skating event.

Lou Pereira, Trinity Catholic High School president, said, “We are very proud of Brittany, not only for her successes in Olympic and world competition, but also for her selfless service to her teammates.”

Trinity Catholic High School is a college preparatory high school that recently celebrated its 20th anniversary of serving students in the Central Florida area.
