FC Barcelona revealed Friday that right back Sergiño Dest will be sidelined indefinitely with a hamstring injury, ending the 21-year-old's chances to play in the U.S. men's national team's three remaining World Cup Qualifiers.

U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter originally selected Dest on Thursday to as part of his 27-man roster to face Mexico on March 24, Panama on March 27 and Costa Rica on March 30. Dest has started six of the USMNT's 11 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers thus far.

On Friday, the USMNT announced George Bello will replace Dest on the roster. Bello, who plays for Arminia Bielefeld in the German Bundesliga, has made six appearances for the USMNT, including two starts in World Cup Qualifying – in September's 4-1 win at Honduras and in October's 1-0 loss at Panama.

U.S. players will report to camp Sunday in Houston, train Monday and Tuesday before travelling to Mexico City on Wednesday. The U.S. will face Mexico at Estadio Azteca on Thursday (9 p.m., Paramount+).

Dest suffered the hamstring injury Thursday, when playing for Barcelona in the UEFA Europa League against Turkish side, Galatasaray.

In the 55th minute, Dest was closing in on Galatasaray winger Kerem Aktürkoğlu, before he could cross the ball to a teammate near the goal. Dest extended to make a sliding tackle to prevent the pass. As the ball rolled out of play, Dest grimaced on the ground, unable to get up on his own power.

After receiving treatment from the Barcelona medical team, Dest was assisted off the field. He was replaced by Ronald Araújo.
