Carlton coach Michael Voss has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, making him unavailable to coach the team next Thursday night.

The Blues confirmed Voss, as well as player Jack Martin and two staff members, were isolating in accordance with the AFL’s Health and Safety Protocols.

Carlton football boss Brad Lloyd confirmed the news on Friday.

“Importantly, Michael, Jack and our staff are feeling well, which is the number one priority here obviously and they will now isolate for the required periods of time. All had tested negative prior to interacting with the football program, however by today all four had returned a positive result,” Lloyd said.

“The impact of COVID-19 is still clearly a reality that we remain mindful of, so we will make the necessary adjustments, adapt and remain focused on our goal for the next week – which is preparing for a strong performance next Thursday night.”

The club also confirmed assistant coach Ashley Hansen will take the reins when the Blues face the Bulldogs on Thursday.

On Friday night, Voss coached the Blues to a round one victory over Richmond, running out 25-point winners at the MCG.

The AFL will be dearly hoping any more Carlton players or staff are impacted.

Voss was obviously in close contact with many on Thursday night as he delivered his team talks and celebrated the win with those around the group.

The AFL has previously outlined contingency procedures if a host of players are ruled out, allowing teams to select non-listed players to top-up their numbers.
