Jonas Kaufmann, Marlis Petersen & Elīna Garança Lead Salzburg Easter Festival’s 2023 Season
By Francisco SalazarThe Salzburg Easter Festival has announced its 2023 season.
The season will present Andris Nelsons conducting Richard Wagner’s “Tannhäuser” in a production by director Romeo Castellucci. The main roles will be sung by Marlis Petersen, Elīna Garança, Jonas Kaufmann, Georg Zeppenfeld, and Christian Gerhaher.
The season will include Brahms’ “German Requiem” performed by Bavarian Radio Chorus with soloists Julia Kleiter and Christian Gerhaher. Andris Nelsons conducts.
For the first-ever time, there will be a world dance premiere at the Easter Festival with the Israeli choreographer Emanuel Gat presenting work for 14 dancers that is inspired by Richard Wagner’s “Wesendonck Lieder.”
The season will also include Gautier Capucon, Gewandhaus Wind Quintet, Kirill Gerstein, and Gewandhaus Brass Quintet.
