Simply making his teammate wear a Michigan State shirt or jersey wasn’t enough for Draymond Green.

No, the former Michigan State star had to crank it up a notch for his NCAA Tournament bet with Steph Curry over the Spartans’ first-round matchup with Davidson.

Green said on his podcast this week that if his Spartans beat Davidson, where Curry played college basketball, the former NBA MVP will be forced to wear the full mascot costume of Sparty to an upcoming Golden State Warriors game.

“There will be some good bets, there will be a monetary bet, there will be a bet with Steph Curry walking into the game in the Sparty costume,” Green said. “Not just my jersey, not just a Michigan State T-Shirt, he will come to the game as the Michigan State mascot. Sparty, that’s what it’s going to be.”

Green did not reveal his potential punishment should Michigan State lose the Friday night matchup, but he didn’t exactly seem worried about that possibility.

“We are going to destroy Steph Curry’s Davidson Wildcats,” Green said.

The fact that Green has a creative bet, plus some money on the matchup, comes as no surprise to those who know him.

“I know Draymond and Steph are probably having a field day out there,” Spartans coach Tom Izzo said on Sunday night, minutes after the matchup was announced. “(Steve) Mariucci and I bet dollars, they probably bet hundreds of thousands of dollars on the game. That’s the difference in being from the U.P. and in the NBA.”

Green said his former team “kind of let go of the rope a little but down the stretch” when it lost seven of 10 games to end the regular season. But he has faith that the Spartans will not only beat Davidson but also top Duke on Sunday.

“The second-round matchup that we have is Duke, and you know what coach Izzo says, ‘You give me the first game of the weekend, I’ll get you the second one,” Green said. “And I have no doubt in my mind that he’s going to give me the second one.”

As for Green, he returned from a 29-game absence this week due to injury to rejoin the Warriors, who are 47-23 on the season.
