High winds, dry conditions lead to Kansas grass fires

A Red Flag Warning on Wednesday for high fire danger due to dry conditions turned into several fires developing around the state.

One fire near Wichita on Kansas Highway 254 from 143 Street East to 159 Street East in northeast Sedgwick County, burned near the Butler County line.

Two additional large fires were reported in Norton County, and another in Elk County.

Fire crews from Norton, Almena and Phillips, battled a blaze north of U.S. Highway 36 near US-36 and K-60.  The Elk County fire was on the Elk/Chautauqua County line.

There were no reports of injuries.
