It appears that George Warhop is having an influence on the Houston Texans free agents.

Another Jacksonville Jaguars player is joining the division rival Houston Texans. A.J. Cann was the Jaguars’ right guard since 2015 when he was drafted in the third round out of South Carolina. Cann has only played one full season, and that was in 2016. Warhop was Cann’s offensive line coach in Jacksonville.

Otherwise, he has missed at least one game or more, including last year when Cann only played four games. Cann was put on I.R. in early October of 2021. Hopefully, Cann will be healthy enough to help the guard position for the Houston Texans, which was a weak point last year.

As for their center, the Houston Texans re-signed Justin Britt. That deal is for two years and nine million dollars and can go as high as 10.5 million.

Houston Texans’ offensive line is looking better, but improvement is still needed.

Houston gave up the ninth-most sacks last season and had multiple games of four sacks allowed or more. They were also dead last in rushing yards, a facet of their game that was embarrassing to watch. Drafting an offensive lineman somewhere within the first two rounds needs to happen, as the selection is plentiful this year.

With Laremy Tunsil getting a restructured contract, the Texans’ plans may have changed in the first round. That’s what remains interesting to watch as next month’s draft approaches. If Deshaun Watson does get traded, then this could change further based on the compensation received.

If this new group can protect whoever the Texans quarterback is going to be and improve the rushing attack, it will be a success for Nick Caserio in free agency.
