Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys is adding stars from Killing Eve, NCIS: New Orleans and more major projects to its star-studded cast.

The Amazon series is the latest adaptation of one of Gaiman's beloved works, after American Gods, Lucifer, Good Omens and, soon, Sandman have all spun off their own live-action shows.

Small Axe's Malachi Kirby has a dual role in the show as Charlie Nancy (aka Fat Charlie) and his brother Spider, who've recently lost their father Mr Nancy (The Good Fight's Delroy Lindo).

The brothers learn Mr Nancy was actually an ancient Trickster, though they process this news very differently. Spider is determined to add some spice to his more reserved brother's life in a wild story that goes from the UK, to Florida to the World Before Time.

New cast additions announced by Amazon this week include The Crown's Jason Watkins as Charlie's boss, the eccentric theatrical agent Grahame Coats. Killing Eve's Fiona Shaw plays wealthy widow Maeve Livingstone, who is convinced Coats is embezzling her late husband's fortune.

NCIS: New Orleans actress CCH Pounder is Mrs Higgler, a family friend of the Nancy clan who knows all of the mystical secrets they hold.

Also joining the cast are Lost's L Scott Caldwell as 104-year-old witch Mrs. Dunwiddy, Small Axe's Joy Richardson as Dunwiddy's sidekick Mrs Bustamante and Doctor Who's Lachele Carl as a member of the Weird Sisters.

"The sheer amount of acting talent on Anansi Boys, is such that I keep pinching myself to make certain I'm not dreaming it. I can't wait until the world sees what we're making," Gaiman said today.

The six-part series is currently being filmed in Scotland, to premiere on Prime Video.

Lucifer seasons 4-6 are streaming now on Netflix. You can also catch up on seasons 1-4 via Amazon.
