Yondu's death in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is easily one of the most tear-jerking moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I'd even dare say that it's up there with Tony Stark's death. Following Michael Rooker's MCU exit in 2017, the fandom has undoubtedly grown to appreciate the actor and the character, so much so that there have been pleas to have Yondu returning from the dead. Now, Rooker himself is finally breaking his silence on his future in the billion-dollar franchise ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

During an interview with the Geek House Show (via CBR) at the Middle East Film and Comic Con, the star of DC's The Suicide Squad opened up about his MCU character's potential return. Admittedly, Rooker hasn't heard any plans regarding Yondu's possible resurrection but he did say that in his career, he's been able to revisit roles. He says: "I have no idea. I don’t know. I do the jobs and I move on and I do other jobs. Sometimes we go back and revisit stuff but as of now, there’s nothing planned."

It's worth noting that James Gunn himself has stated on more than one occasion that he has no plans of bringing Yondu back to life as it will only cheapen his heroic sacrifice. But with the whole multiverse concept coming into play this Phase 4, Marvel Studios could easily pull the trigger if they wanted to and it's not like Gunn can do anything about it.

The MCU's third Guardians of the Galaxy film is scheduled to hit cinemas on May 5, 2023.
