Huntington woman sentenced to prison for role in Nigerian fraud scheme
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Huntington woman was sentenced to three months in prison Monday for her role in a Nigerian fraud scheme, prosecutors said. Patricia Dudding, 70, was accused of being a money mule in a fraud scheme that scammed money from many individuals, some of whom were elderly, a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia said. She was also ordered to pay more than $1.7 million in restitution and will be subject to three years of supervised release.

Man wanted in Monongalia County death investigation taken into custody in Pennsylvania
MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A man wanted in connection with a Monongalia County murder investigation was taken into custody Monday in Pennsylvania, deputies said. Arlo Romano, 42, of Morgantown was wanted for wanted for first-degree murder and felony conspiracy, according to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody Monday evening by Pennsylvania State Police.

Lawsuit filed to stop 19th century statute criminalizing abortion in W.Va.

Wade, medical providers and advocates have filed a lawsuit in West Virginia to prevent enforcement of an 1882 state code that criminalizes abortion. Active COVID-19 case total, positive test rate up in W.Va. on Wednesday
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — Active COVID-19 cases topped 2,000 again Wednesday in West Virginia after declining for two straight days. The active total now sits at 2,014 after the addition of 667 new positive cases Wednesday, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
