The Chargers' big offseason continued on Monday, as the team has agreed to terms with Pro Bowl cornerback J.C. Jackson on a five-year, $82.5 million deal with $40 million guaranteed, as confirmed by CBS Sports NFL Insider Josina Anderson.

Los Angeles taken a page from their SoFi Stadium neighbor's playbook this summer. Like the Rams have under coach Sean McVay and GM Les Snead, the Chargers have gone "all-in" this offseason with their recent acquisitions that have included trading for linebacker Khalil Mack and re-signing receiver Mike Williams to a three-year deal.

A former undrafted rookie, Jackson blossomed from a spot starter into a Pro Bowl cornerback during his four years in New England. A member of the Patriots' Super Bowl LIII championship team, Jackson recorded 25 interceptions in New England along with 53 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and 158 tackles.

Jackson recorded a career-high eight interceptions last season while leading the league with 23 pass breakups. The 26-year-old's play helped the Patriots' defense finish second in the NFL in scoring, pass defense and red zone efficiency and fifth in third down efficiency.

The Chargers are trying to ensure that their 2021 season does not repeat itself in 2022. At 9-8, Los Angeles missed the playoffs last year after losing to the rival Raiders in overtime on the final day of the regular season. With Mack, Williams and Jackson in tow, along with having Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler back for the '22 season, expectations will be sky high for Brandon Staley and company this fall.
