(610 Sports) – With the free agency negotiating window opening on Monday, the Chiefs could find themselves looking for a running back on the open market after failing to agree on a new deal with Darrel Williams.

Williams has spent his entire career to this point with Kansas City, after signing with the team as an un-drafted free agent out of LSU in 2018. According to reports, the Chiefs tried re-signing the fifth-year running but were unable to reach a new deal.

2021 was a breakout season for Williams, who saw extended action following an injury to starting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Going over 1,000 total yards for the first time in his career, Williams displayed his abilities as both a runner and receiver, rushing for 558 yards and 6 TDs, while catching 47 passes on 57 targets for 452 yards and 2 TDs.

Williams, who turns 27 in April, has 912 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns and 83 receptions for 762 yards and four touchdowns in his career.
