Rebel Wilson hosted the BAFTA Film Awards tonight (Sunday, March 3), and viewers had a mixed response to her performance.

Wilson made her entrance on stage to the Bond theme, following a performance by Dame Shirley Bassey, and revealed a tattoo on her leg of Daniel Craig's face, joking "Diamonds are Forever, and so are tattoos".

The opening monologue was full of jokes, but not all of them went down well with viewers.

However, many viewers felt differently and enjoyed Wilson's hosting style.

During her opening monologue, she took aim at Harry Potter author JK Rowling's controversial comments on transgender people, as well as making remarks about the gender pay gap, and jokes about nominees and ceremony attendees from Lady Gaga to Kenneth Branagh.

"When you’re the host, I don’t think you can hide behind anything," she had told The Hollywood Reporter prior to the ceremony. "I just have to come out as myself, which will be terrifying!"

The ceremony saw many stars packed into London's Royal Albert Hall, and the top contenders for the awards were Dune and Power of the Dog. Part of the ceremony saw Wilson present the star of the latter, Benedict Cumberbatch, with a cake of his face, which turned out to be pretty difficult to cut.

Awards were presented by stars including House of Gucci's Lady Gaga, Black Widow's Florence Pugh, Andy Serkis and Daniel Kaluuya, as well as last year's recipient of the BAFTA Rising Star award, Bukky Bakray.

The BAFTA Film Awards aired on BBC One, and are available to watch on iPlayer.
