Last night Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros performed a special private show at Jack White’s The Blue Room at Third Man Records in Nashville, Tenn. The outfit was assisted by Margo Price, who sat in for some tunes. Third Man Records released their latest endeavor, Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros: Live in Colorado in mid-February.

The set began with the first track off Weir & Wolf Bros debut LP and the Grateful Dead favorite, “New Speedway Boogie.” Songs intermingled with breaks for a Q&A with Price, which came after the first five songs of the evening. Music continued with what is seemingly becoming a live staple for the unit, “My Brother Esau.”

Price joined in for the following songs, which began with a take on the Johnny Cash original, turned Grateful Dead classic, “Big River.” The vibrant energy of the evening bled into the next tune, this time the groove-driven “West L.A. Fadeaway.” Finally, Price proved her well-tuned pipes were meant to harmonize with the San Francisco legend on a breathtaking rendition of Bob Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall.” See a clip of the performance below.

Following the last segment of her Q&A, Price left the stage, leaving Weir alongside the Wolf Pack to perform “Ripple,” followed by a classic pairing of “Lost Sailor” into “Saint of Circumstance.” The ensemble played another set of Grateful Dead classics for their encore, this time “Chinacat Sunflower” into “I Know You Rider.”

The special evening featured many social media moments, ranging from a psychedelic shot video of Price and Weir taking on the Dylan classic and an iconic shot of venue owner and rock icon, White exchanging words with Weir backstage.

The night prior, Weir sat in with J.D. Souther at The Franklin Theatre in Franklin, Tenn. The duo performed a segued set which began with the Souther-written Eagles hit, “Heartache Tonight.” The set continued with a throwback to 1984’s “Baby What You Want Me to Do” before reprising the set opener.

Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros next scheduled performance is tomorrow night at Orpheum Theatre in Wichita, Kan. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here
