Spent Saturday in The Woodlands at Endzone Houston, a loaded 7-on-7 tournament featuring talent from all across the country, including a number of Texas A&M targets.

*** Wasn’t able to catch 2024 The Woodlands (Tex.) High quarterback Mabrey Mettauer in action with Team Texas Fury, but from all accounts, it sounds like the sophomore is starting to put it all together. The Aggies have yet to offer but Mettauer is one the shortlist of 2024 quarterbacks to keep an eye on as the signal-caller in the class.

*** 2023 Derby (Ks.) High four-star running back Dylan Edwards made the trip down from Kansas to compete with KB3 Adidas. Edwards first stopped through College Station ahead of the weekend to visit campus and meet with the coaching staff. The Aggies have yet to offer, but that could chance very soon. Edwards didn’t get much time with the staff due to spring practice, but bonded well with Jimbo Fisher, offensive coordinator Darell Dickey and running backs coach Tommie Robinson in the limited time they had together. Edwards is set to get on a zoom call with Dickey after Texas A&M’s spring break next week and is hoping an offer could be in the works during the meeting. Edwards is still wide open in his recruitment, with Oklahoma, Kansas State and Jackson State among three schools standing out. I’ll have more on him later this week.

*** Texas A&M has an offer out to 2024 Alvin (Tex.) Shadow Creek safety Maurice Williams II, the No. 4 safety in the class per the On3 Consensus. The Aggies are among the schools standing out to the sophomore early and he plans to make a return visit at least once this summer.

*** 2024 Texas A&M wide receiver offer Jelani Watkins was in action with KB3 Adidas as well and is developing into more than just a speedy threat. The sophomore is looking to build on a strong freshman track season this offseason and establish himself as one of, if not the fastest, 2024 prospect in the country. The Aggies have hosted Watkins on campus a couple times and a return trip is likely this summer.

*** 2025 North Shore defensive back Devin Sanchez is an early name to know. Hailing from the powerhouse on the Eastside of Houston, Sanchez looks to be next up in a long line of high-end defensive backs the Mustangs have produced. Already stands over 6-foot-2, and runs anchor for North Shore’s 4×100 and 4×200 relays, a testament to the speed and athleticism he possesses at his size. He’ll look to lock down a starting spot opposite 2023 three-star Jacoby Davis in the Mustangs’ secondary this offseason.

*** 2024 Katy (Tex.) Jordan wide receiver Zechariah Sample is a wide receiver to keep an eye on moving forward. Had emerged as a prospect to note at Del Valle, and is now at Katy Jordan, a new school in Katy ISD that’s home to 2025 wideout Andrew Marsh, another A&M target to keep an eye on.
