Wow, that didn’t take long. A wolf waiting in sheep’s clothing.

City Council slipped in the Metro Tax Districts, which financially benefit the developers only and financially burden the residents. Now they want to approve the same program to Parks and Recreation.

Open your eyes, Greeley citizens. Don’t let this insane proposal continue. Why are you willing to enable an already wealthy developer to take money through taxation from regular and struggling citizens?

I hope the two council members who have questioned this receive support from an informed community that we will not be further financially burdened — particularly at the gain of the developer. City Council must return to the practice of the greater good for the citizens of Greeley.

The development has the potential to force many of the current residents out of the area of town that they have lived in for many years because they will no longer be able to afford to pay the special tax. And don’t forget that the development will need maintenance that will come from the rest of the City’s budget.

City Council, if you can’t make any better decisions than you have lately, or can’t resist influence from developers, then I suggest you stay at home. We will pay your salary if you just stay home and leave things be.

Oh, I forgot, you need to spend more of our money to undo what you did at Bittersweet Park. Wow!

Lori Williams, Greeley
