Former San Angelo Central quarterback Greg Thomas hosts book signing

Greg Thomas, who was a standout quarterback at San Angelo Central and the University of Arkansas paid a visit to his hometown.

On Friday, former San Angelo Central and University of Arkansas quarterback Greg Thomas stopped by the Old Town Book store for his book signing.

While at the book signing Thomas was greeted by his former classmates and coaches who helped him reflect on the many memories he created during his high school career.

"Central was a fascinating time, I played with a lot of great players and great coaching staff. We were successful, that's the best part, we played in the playoffs and it was a great time," Thomas said.

Thomas's book "No Doubting Thomas" depicts his early childhood years growing up in San Angelo and also tells the story of his football journey. Thomas says writing his book was a necessity but it was also very therapeutic.

"I got a chance to do some firsts here in San Angelo and also in Arkansas. It's enlightening. It was the same challenges that every student goes through, leaving town and going a long way from home and having the opportunity to compete and challenge your own self," Thomas said.

Rex Scofield, a former coach at San Angelo Central says during his time coaching he remembers the outstanding athlete Thomas was.

"Whatever we wanted him to do he would do. We knew that he would go on to play college football and he's one of my favorite people in the whole world. He just has that personality and he's just a great young man and a great athlete," Scofield said.
