0Steve Guttenberg On His New Film “Heckle,” Future Projects, His Long Island Roots, Parenting & More
Earlier this week, Uncork’d Entertainment released Martyn Pick’s pitch-black comedy/horror Heckle, as starring internationally-recognized actor Steve Guttenberg (Veronica Mars, Cocoon, Police Academy). The film, which premiered at FrightFest, tells of a famous stand-up comedian that encounters a seemingly-insane heckler, who starts stalking him obsessively. Then the comic’s friends start ending up dead, taking heckling to a whole new level. With a screenplay written by Airell Anthony Hayles, the film also stars the late Clark Gable III, grandson and namesake of movie icon Clark Gable.
The aforementioned Steve Guttenberg is a prolific actor, producer and director whose list of hits also include Three Men & A Baby, Diner, The Bedroom Window, Three Men & A Little Lady, The Big Green and Short Circuit. Per a statistic cited in his 2012 memoir The Guttenberg Bible, he and Gene Hackman were tied for the most movie appearances between 1981 and 1990. On-screen success aside, Guttenberg is involved with a variety of charities, including The Entertainment Industry Foundation — for which he was selected to be an Ambassador for Children’s Issues — and the Lymphatic Education & Research Network. Television credits for Guttenberg include The Goldbergs, Ballers and Party Down.
On March 10, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Steve Guttenberg via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond Heckle, we spoke about upcoming projects for the Long Island, New York native. More on Guttenberg and Heckle can be found online by clicking here, here, here, here and here.
