Hinds County Assistant Principal Toby Price received social media support after he was fired for reading a children's book.
Price said he read a book that he had in his office called 'I Need a New Butt' to second-grade students.
He explains that some of the language used in the book is inappropriate for students, such as the words "fart" and "butt."
Price claimed that the school district said his reading of the book showed "poor professional judgment."
"I never had, like, a discipline referral before. I mean, I've been in education for 20 years. I've never had one, not even for being late," Price said.
Price was the former assistant principal at Gary Road Elementary.
Price said he has never experienced anything like this in his years of working as an educator.
There will be action taken by the former assistant principal.
Price said he has hired an attorney and plans to appeal his termination at a hearing on March 21.
