The Department of Transportation is responsible for all planning, design, construction, maintenance, and repairs to the city's transportation system – comprised of roads, bridges, sidewalks, traffic signals, signage, and multi-use facilities. The department also manages bridge, harbor, and levee maintenance, repairs, and operations.
