The Columbus Blue Jackets announced Tuesday the club has signed forward Justin Danforth to a two-year, $1.95 million contract extension through the 2023-24 season.
The 28-year-old native of Ontario originally signed a one-year deal with the Blue Jackets in May 2021.
“We’re very excited to sign Justin to this contract extension as he epitomizes the values we have as a team hard work, commitment, and determination,” General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen said. “He has dedicated himself to becoming an NHL player over the past several years and his game has continued to grow throughout this season. He has become a trusted and valuable contributor on our team.”
In 22 games this season, Danforth has five goals and two assists while averaging 11:30 of ice time.
He made his NHL debut on November 15 and scored his first career goal the following game at Arizona.
Danforth and the Blue Jackets will be back in action Thursday night when they visit the New York Islanders.
