Lucifer cast members have shown that, despite the show coming to an end last year, they're all just as close and supportive of each other as ever.

Actor Kevin Alejandro, who played Detective Dan Espinoza in all six seasons of Netflix drama Lucifer, has landed a major new TV role in CBS pilot Cal Fire, a drama about a firefighting program in northern California.

The star announced the news on Instagram by sharing a screenshot of a news article about his casting in the show, writing: "And here it is!!! I am HONORED to join these heavyweights @maxthieriot and @billyburke06 in this truly special project! And I get to stay in the @jerrybruckheimer and @kargfm family!

Cal Fire will also star Twilight actor Billy Burke and SEAL Team's Max Thieriot and is inspired by Thieriot's experiences growing up in northern California fire country.

Alejandro is due to play Manny, described by Deadline as "a proud father and fire captain in charge of prison inmates when they are on the fire line".

"He has the hard-earned wisdom of a man whose life was spiralling out of control before he turned it around," the description continues. "Cap sees potential in Bode – that is, until he catches wind of his big secret."

Bode Donovan (Thieriot) is a convict in search of redemption – and a shortened prison sentence – who joins the firefighting program, while Vince (Burke) is a "lovable pessimist" who is the fire chief of the community of Middletown and who has fought many fires as part of his duties.

The show comes from Jerry Bruckheimer Television, the production company which was also behind Lucifer.
