Mayor Sylvester Turner discusses spring break traffic, parking plans for city attractions

HOUSTON – Mayor Sylvester Turner, along with several leaders from Texas Medical Center, METRO, and several popular Houston-area attractions held to discuss traffic and parking plans for spring break.

In a news release, the City of Houston partnered with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Houston Museum District, Hermann Park and Houston Zoo to create easy access for Houstonians to safely have fun during this year’s spring break, which runs from Saturday. March 12 through Sunday, March 20.

Mayor Turner says over 300,000 people are expected to travel to the Museum District, the Hermann Park area and NRG Stadium, which are located within five minutes of each other.

Isaac Middleton, COO of Texas Medical Center said that the Texas Medical Center police department will increase patrols in busy intersections to control the flow of traffic.

Parking will also be offered within the Texas Medical Center to those visiting the area during spring break. Attendees can check for parking updates on TMC’s website beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

METRO’s Red Line travels through Texas Medical Center with stops from Hermann Park and Houston Zoo to NRG Stadium. Each one-way ride is $1.25.
