This season, Stella McCartney looked to the work of American painter Frank Stella, whose vibrant prints and zig-zagging lines form the basis of her autumn/winter 2022 collection. There were wrap-around faux fur coats, ribbed jumpsuits and asymmetric dresses in varying shades of mauve, burgundy, black and yellow. The result was cool, clean, and modern.

To complement the clothes, make-up maestro Pat McGrath created fresh faces and luminous complexions. Celebrating natural beauty, McGrath mastered the “no make-up” make-up look.

“It’s a celebration of individuality with a reflection of minimal, clean and fresh beauty,” she tells Vogue. “The make-up is expressed in the most natural essence: glowing, transparent divine skin with Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Primer, Foundation and Concealer.” To top it off, eyelids and cheeks are glazed with the balm from Skin Fetish: Highlighter + Balm Duo, while lips are kept bare and hydrated with Lip Fetish Sheer Colour Balm in Clear.

As for the hair, legendary stylist Eugene Souleiman looked to the streets for inspiration, creating a catalogue of what will no doubt be this season’s hottest hair looks. There were long bobs, short bobs, and bobs that grazed the chin. Bobs with blunt cut fringes or micro fringes, and bobs styled into middle partings in both straight and wavy iterations. Elsewhere there were girls with cornrows and naturally Afro-textured hair, while other girls wore their hair long, styled with fringes or middle partings. Like the make-up, the hair look was all about celebrating the individual, keeping it really natural and cool.
