EAST LANSING – With spring practice right around the corner, Michigan State is adding another piece up front to its 2022 roster.

Veteran Washington State offensive lineman Brian Greene announced his transfer to Michigan State on Monday on his Twitter account.

Greene joined Washington State as a walk-on in 2017 and spent the last two years as Washington State’s starting center, earning All-Pac 12 honorable mention honors in 2020. He missed five games in 2021 and announced his decision to enter the transfer portal in early 2022. He has one remaining year of eligibility.

Greene will add depth to a Michigan State offensive line that loses plenty compared to last year, including veterans AJ Arcuri, Matt Allen, Kevin Jarvis and Luke Campbell. The Spartans return just five offensive linemen who have college experience in 2022.

Nick Samac has been seen as the favorite to step into the starting center role, after rotating with Allen there last season. When he wasn’t playing center at Washington State, Greene rotated to both guard positions.

Greene is the eighth player to transfer to Michigan State this offseason.
