(SportsRadio 610) - Rockets head coach Stephen Silas was not willing to go as far as to say this was their best win of the season.

Sure, they had just beaten the Memphis Grizzlies, who now hold the third-best record in the Western Conference. The Rockets' three best players -- Christian Wood, Kevin Porter Jr. and rookie Jalen Green -- all scored 24 points or more.

Every player who touched the floor for Houston on Sunday night were positive on the plus-minus box score metric.

But Silas pointed to their Jan. 19 victory at Utah. SportsRadio 610's Adam Spolane would point to the Dec. 8 win at home against James Harden's Brooklyn Nets.

The coach did say this was Wood's best game.

Wood put up 28 points, 13 rebounds and blocked two shots.

"He was so good," said Silas, who was an assistant coach with the Charlotte Hornets when Wood played there five seasons ago before coaching him the past two seasons in Houston.

"It wasn't even his scoring. He had 20 in the first half. But it was drive-and-kicks he was making. It was defensive plays that he was making. It was fighting Steven Adams, which was so hard, and he did all of it. And the other guys fed off of him. One of the main reasons we won that game was because of Christian."

Wood did not call it his best game, but conceded it as a "top five" moment for him as a Rocket.

In four games so far this month, Wood is averaging 22.8 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. He's shooting 62.5 percent from the floor, 50 percent from 3, and his free throws shooting is improved to 72.4 percent for the month.

When asked if he feels like he's improved this season, Wood said there's been a particular focus on defense since the All-Star break.

"For me, it's just all about learning and seeing where I can improve my game," Wood said. "My biggest thing for me is to try to improve defensively. Since the All-Star break, I've been trying to make the effort to give 110 percent on defense and see how far it could take my team, so how much it could help my team, and I think it's been big."
