ROCKFORD — Observational comedy garnished with a pinch of self-deprecation.

That’s what fans should expect on March 24 when award-winning comedian Iliza Shlesinger’s Back In Action tour makes a stop at the Coronado Performing Arts Center in Rockford.

“Wherever you are at politically or socially, there is going to be something for you,” said Shlesinger, who recently wrote and starred in the Netflix romantic comedy “Good on Paper.”

Shlesinger, 39, has five Netflix comedy standup specials under belt and a sixth due out this summer. A new mother and veteran comedian at a time when a pandemic and the cancel culture wage war on the entertainment business, she doesn’t anticipate slowing down any time soon.

“I’ve always felt that I am beyond reproach,” she said. “I like to think I can say all the things that people wish that they could say out loud. Sometimes it’s sensitive, sometimes it’s not. But, at the end of the day, if people are laughing, it’s got to be true. So, I don’t worry about being canceled. I know what I am saying is honest.”

There’s nothing more Shlesinger is honest about than herself. As an “equal opportunity offender,” she’s not above roasting someone else on stage but not without taking jabs at her own blunders.

“If you just make fun of other people, you’re a bully,” she said. “People like to see themselves in you and your mistakes. I think vulnerability is a great tool to get (audiences) to listen.”

Shlesinger played opposite Mark Wahlberg in the No. 1 Netflix film “Spenser Confidential” and appeared the indie drama “Pieces of a Woman," with Vanessa Kirby.

Her series, “The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show” is also a Netflix hit. Her other credits include films “Instant Family," “Paradise," and “Supercool," as well as podcasts StarTalk Radio Show and AIA: Ask Iliza Anything.

Tickets for the Rockford show start at $39.50 and are available through Ticketmaster

“We’re going to have a great time,” Shlesinger said.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
