On Valentine’s Day, Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-San Bernardino, joined with members of Girl Scout Troop 1302 of San Bernardino to deliver cookies and valentines to veterans at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center in Loma Linda.

The valentines were made by children from Wilson Elementary School, Victoria Elementary School and Highland-Pacific Elementary School in San Bernardino; Terrace View Elementary School in Grand Terrace; Bryn Mawr Elementary School in Loma Linda; and Crafton Elementary School, Franklin Elementary School, McKinley Elementary School and Kingsbury Elementary School in Redlands.

The event was part of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week, Feb. 13-19. The week is intended as a time to pay tribute and express appreciation to veterans, to increase community awareness of the role of VA medical centers and to encourage people to visit hospitalized veterans and to become involved as volunteers, according to a news release.
