Did You Know Brooke Simpson Was On ‘The Voice’ Before ‘AGT’?

Brooke Simpson was a finalist on season 16 of America’s Got Talent. She wowed America weekly with her amazing voice, but did you know she was on a show before AGT? She competed on The Voice in 2017 on Team Miley.
Brooke Simpson’s Time on The Voice
In Simpson’s audition, she sang a beautiful rendition of “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato. Her voice turned the chairs of all four coaches. Jennifer Hudson, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Cyrus fought over her. At the end of her audition Levine ran on to stage and hugged her. After the coaches complimented her, she chose to join Team Miley.
Simpson left The Voice with some pretty great accomplishments. During the last week of The Voice competition her rendition of the iconic Christmas hit, “O Holy Night” hit No. 1 on the Hot Christian Billboard Charts. She sang this after dueting with her coach and singing an original song.
Although she was a clear fan favorite, she had the third most votes in the finale. I truly believe she would’ve won if there were one or two more weeks in the competition after her song hit the Christian charts. She finished out behind second place recipient Addison Agen and winner, Chloe Kohanski.
Nearly four years later, Simpson took to the stage of America’s Got Talent to premiere her powerful singing voice. She was a strong contestant since her audition of “Cuz I Love You” by Lizzo. Within each week of the competition she got better and better. While contestants typically are nervous to perform during the live shows, Simpson knew this round was a piece of cake for her. Her time on The Voice didn’t really give her an advantage, but you can tell she’s pretty comfortable on stage.
She Makes History on America’s Got Talent
Simpson’s run on AGT should not be taken lightly. The singer made history in both her season and the series overall. She was the only non-Golden Buzzer solo singer in season 16 to make it into the finals, and was also the only solo singer in the live shows to reach the finals without relying on Instant Save or Judges’ Choice. This singer made history as the first contestant to be a finalist on both AGT and The Voice. She also was the first act of Native American heritage to advance into the final.
Within each series, Simpson shared that her (the Haliwa-Saponi) tribe of North Carolina was her biggest support group. She hoped to become the popular indigenous artist she didn’t have growing up. Before performing on AGT she had released multiple singes, a mini EP, and made her Broadway debut in 1776. It was clear that her future was bright during The Voice, but it’s even brighter after AGT.
