United States Congressman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio-4 traveled yesterday to New Jersey to support his colleague, Congressman Jeff Van Drew, R-NJ-2.

This special event took place at Galloway Township Mayor Tony Coppola’s Historic Smithville Inn.

The Smithville Inn is a truly historic setting, opening in 1789 … two years before George Washington became the first President of The United States.

Congressman Jordan was profoundly moved by the history of the HistoricTowne of Smithville.

More than 250 people turned out and it was a “Who’s Who” of Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland County leaders.

Of note, before the event began, the very first thing that Congressman Jordan said upon arriving was, “how far from Atlantic City are we”?

Truth be told, this wasn’t because Atlantic City is “The World’s Playground,” or, that more than 20 million people visit annually.

It all came down to wrestling. Jordan was a wrestling champion and highly respected coach. He is a wrestling legend in the state of Ohio.

Jordan mentioned how highly regarded Pennsylvania and New Jersey are in the sport of wrestling. Jordan knew all about the NJSIAA State Wrestling Championships held each year at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.

I had the opportunity to ask Congressman Jordan about the fact that America is buying 675,000 barrels of oil from Russia.

That’s $ 70 million per-day and this unwittingly funds Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Here’s a link to our article that covers this important issue in great detail.

Jordan was very clear that we need to return to the position that America was in just 13 months ago, when America was energy independent and a net oil exporter.

Importing oil from Russia is both bad politics and bad energy policy.

Congressman Jordan spoke about the critical importance of the November 8, 2022 mid-term national elections.

Jordan also discussed how important it is that Van Drew continue to serve his constituents in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District.

Before introducing Jordan to the crowd, Van Drew spent a few minutes taking about what a critical tipping point it is in American history.

Van Drew talked about everything from Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, to the runaway inflation and high gasoline prices that are hurting the American people.

New Jersey Senator Michael Testa, R-NJ-1 said, “Leaders like Jim Jordan realized what we are doing in South Jersey and how it can be replicated in other areas across the nation," said Testa.”

“The success that Congressman Van Drew has had on the federal level and our Legislative wins - Senators Polistina and Durr, and I along with Assembly members McClellan and Simonsen, Guardian and Swift, and Sawyer, McCarthy and Patrick - have had in recent elections has proven that our model works and I'm just glad that it's being recognized by national leaders as well, said Testa.

New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina was also on hand and said, “It was great to be there with so many people to support Congressman Van Drew. Everyone recognizes what a tireless advocate Jeff is for his constituents, the South Jersey region, and our Country and we look forward to sending him back to Congress in the majority this year,” said Polistina.

And, that’s exactly what’s at stake this year. Democrats currently hold a razor thin 5 seat majority in The United States House of Representatives.

At the first mid-term election, the sitting President’s political party loses an average of 28 seats.

Unless a major, unforeseen geo-political issue presents, both political parties and all dispassionate observers expect Republicans to win back the majority.

Van Drew is heavily favored to win a 3rd consecutive two-year term in the United States House of Representatives.
