Kristen Alderson Shares a Beautiful Tribute to Her Late Grandmother
In late February, ONE LIFE TO LIVE and GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Kristen Alderson (Starr/Kiki) and her family had to say goodbye to their matriarch when her beloved grandmother passed away. Gloria Kingston was Alderson’s maternal grandmother, the mother of the actress’ mom, Kathy. And while she’d been living in a nursing home for a while, Gloria was a big part of Alderson’s life, as the young woman clearly cherished her grandmother.
Several days after her grandmother’s death, Alderson shared a beautiful carousel of photos on Instagram. The black-and-white gallery of pictures included a sweet picture of Alderson as a baby in a pool with her grandmother, and several images of the actress and her mom visiting with Gloria at the nursing home.
“Rest in peace, Granny,” Alderson began the sweet tribute. “My Granny, Gloria, was so incredibly beautiful from the inside out and had the best sense of humor. When she made eye contact with me, the whole world would disappear, and I would feel the deepest love. She had a way of doing that, making you feel like the most special person in the world.”
Alderson didn’t share the reason for her grandmother’s death. But back in July 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she had expressed concern on social media that her family was worried that Granny would catch the virus from staff members at the nursing home where her mom’s mother was a resident and “we might never see her again.” Thankfully, the Aldersons had another year and a half with Granny after that to make wonderful memories.
Continuing her tribute to Gloria, Alderson listed all the things that she adored that she’ll never get to do again with her Granny. “I’ll miss making her laugh,” wrote Alderson. “I’ll miss her making us laugh (which was often, she was so much like Betty White), I’ll miss taking her out to lunch, but most of all, I’ll miss my mom and I snuggling with her in her tiny nursing home bed.
“Love you forever, Granny,” she concluded.
