Detroit woman injured by shooting wants answers after man fires multiple rounds into home: police
By Wwj Newsroom,
2022-03-03DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit resident got caught up in the midst of gunfire in her own home overnight and now she wants answers.
The Detroit Police Department is currently sorting out what happened early Thursday after a man fired multiple rounds into the 48-year-old woman's home on the city's west side.
"My house was shot up. I don't know why or who did it, but it was shot up," said victim, Sylvia Simmons. "The bullets were meant for somebody -- unfortunately I took one."
Simmons says she was shot in the left arm from the bullets that made their way into her home on Forrer Street, near 6 Mile and Southfield Freeway.
"I'm gonna say there's about over 50 to 100 bullets in my house," said Simmons.
Her husband and son were also inside, but they weren't hurt.
When officers arrived, they said that the suspected shooter actually ran inside the home and had a brief standoff with police before surrendering.
Police arrested the suspect and they're still investigating his motive.
