The signing of defenceman Brady Keeper drew a lot of positive responses this past summer and it was a tough moment to watch him go down screaming in pain on the last day of Canucks training camp after blocking a shot.

Many have been asking about an update on the 25-year-old defenceman.

After a lengthy recovery from a broken leg, Keeper took to the ice in Vancouver on Wednesday morning. He was working with a Canucks staff member and his wife posted pictures and videos of the defenceman skating on Rogers Arena ice.

Keeper was set to bring some depth to the right side of the defence and will likely report to Abbotsford if his recovery continues to trend in the right direction.

When asked about his status, the club told CanucksArmy, that there is still “no timeline to return but he’s making good progress.”

Keeper has played in 72 AHL games over the past two years and had a breakout season in 2019-20 where he had six goals, 12 assists, and 108 penalty minutes in 61 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds.

The latest CanucksArmy heard from the Abbotsford Canucks is that they will be happy to welcome Keeper once he is regularly skating and Wednesday’s ice session is a good step in the right direction.

Both Abbotsford and Vancouver could use a right-shot defenceman who can skate and add some toughness to the lineup. As mentioned, there is no timeline for his return but we will keep you up to date on any news that comes out as Keeper attempts to get back into game action.
