In Tuesday’s Primary Election, Mason County voters elected Sheree Hardin as their new County Judge in a race that drew many to the polls. Hardin will replace Judge Jerry Bearden, who has served in that office since 2003.
Hardin received 1106 votes, and her opponent Cindy Jones, 333.
In a statement relased to the Mason County News, Hardin said:
“Thank you, Mason County, for using your voice in this election.
At their Monday night meeting, Mason Independent School District (MISD) board members approved the hiring of the Education Service Center (ESC) Region 15 of San Angelo, to conduct the Superintendent search for the district.
Dr. Casey Callahan is Executive Director of ESC Region 15 and also a Mason native. He presented the board members with a detailed overview of how the search would be conducted.
Subdivisions and some of the problems they could create were a topic of discussion at Monday’s meeting of the County Commissioners Court.
Commissioners have been working for several months on a new set of subdivision regulations for the county, updating them from the 1997-drawn set currently in place. Impending growth and interest from developers is spurring the need for new regulations and causing concern for some residents.
It’s officially official: Work on rebuilding the historic Mason County Courthouse has begun.
The historic structure was heavily damaged by an alleged arsonist just over a year ago.
“People can see things happening now,” said Mason County Judge Jerry Bearden, on Monday. “Our general contractor, Stoddard, has a lot of workers on site.

Tommie was born at the exact geographical location (Fredonia, Tx) where she lived her retired life. Her parents were Herman Gustav and Alta Mae Miller Ellebracht. She grew up on a sheep ranch outside of London, Texas. She attended London elementary schools. She boarded in town with a lady and walked to school daily.
I grew up in the Permian Basin between Lubbock and Midland. When I was ten-years-old I went to work for the farmer who raised cotton and grain next to our house. I have many fond memories, and some not-so-fond memories, of the six years I worked summers and weekends on that farm.
One of the memories I have is of the County Agent coming out, stepping off ten feet of a cotton row and counting boll worms in order to calculate whether or not it would pay to spray for the boll worms.

The Rhodes Freezer Dinner Rolls that you can find in the grocery store are very good, very handy, and just don't require much help from you, as the baker, to get some fresh rolls on the table. Being an old-fashioned baker-type person, I resist the temptation to use the store-bought rolls most of the time, and instead use this recipe.
How can it already be March? I sometimes think I am only a bystander to all the activity going on and then I realize that time is really moving on and rather quickly. Currently I am attending nurse to our daughter, Tina, who had shoulder surgery on Friday. Hopefully she will be back to regular activities before long.

Last week the nation observed Presidents’ Day on 21 February. And by ‘observed’ I mean a lot of us showed up at the bank, post office, or DMV only to find it closed, and then said something we probably shouldn’t’ve said. It’s a nice holiday if you happen to work for the gubmint, but for the rest of us it’s kind of irritating.
On February 22, the Mason Lions Club met for their weekly club meeting at Nacho’s.
The Lions Club welcomed as its guests three graduating seniors from Mason High School, and Amanda McMillan.
Madison Carter, whose parents are Jared and Marissa Carter, has participated in track, softball, football (trainer), boys basketball (manager), journalism UIL, class officer, student council, and National Honor Society.
