‘Murder Inc.’ Docu-series Featuring Irv Gotti and Ja Rule To Premiere This Summer on BET

The five-part television event will narrate the untold tale of the rise, sudden fall, and redemption of Murder Inc. Records.

It’s been a long time coming but this is something the culture has been asking for — and of course, BET is here to deliver.

BET has announced the new original unscripted documentary series Murder Inc., W/T which will serve as a five-part television series narrating the untold tale of the rise, sudden fall, and redemption of Murder Inc. Records featuring the mastermind behind the New York City record label, Irving “Irv Gotti” Lorenzo.

The label was formed in 1999, after Gotti’s proven success as a music executive at Def Jam Records. The record label played a key role in launching some of the best in hip hop, soul, and R&B including Ja Rule, Ashanti, Lloyd, Charli Baltimore plus many more.

“My life and Murder Inc. has been filled with many highs and lows,” Gotti shared in a statement about the docu-series. “I got to work with my brothers and a lot of great people; from Jay Z, DMX, Fat Joe, Mary J Blige, to name a few.”

He continued, sharing how he isn’t “ashamed” of the lows he had to face as it helped make him the man he is today.

“Pain is Love,” said Ja Rule in the statement. “We endured the pain so others could feel the love.”

Tiffany Lea Williams, the executive vice president of BET Unscripted Programming, shared her excitement about the docu-series and thanked Gotti for trusting BET with telling their story.

“Music is in our DNA,” she expressed. “We thank our long-standing partner Irv Gotti, and the many talented artists at the iconic label for trusting our brand to tell their personal and inspiring stories. We look forward to bringing viewers a compelling music documentary series that reveals how this label consequently changed the music industry forever.”

The docu-series is executive produced by Gotti , Rule, and Williams as well as Darcell Lawrence and Chris Costine. It is  scheduled to premiere summer 2022 on BET.
